Sonoma County Receives Award for Digital Response to Wildfires
The County of Sonoma is pleased to announce it hasbeen named the national first place winner by the Center for Digital Government(CDG) and the National Association of Counties (NACo) for the innovative andcollaborative digital response to the October wildfires. The Digital CountiesSurvey Awards recognize counties for their technology policies and practicesand only allocates ten winning spots for counties based on population. County of Sonoma Encourages Residents and Visitors to be Prepared for First Red Flag Warning of the Fire Season
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning which is in effect from 11 am Saturday, June 23, 2018 to 8 PM Sunday, June 24, 2018. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions comprised of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures are either occurring now, or will shortly. Read full story
Heat Notification: Tips to Stay Cool as Temperatures Rise
The National Weather Service is forecasting hot temperatures throughout the state and in Sonoma County over the next few days. The hottest weather will be on Friday, June 22, 2018 and Saturday, June 23, 2018. Inland temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s and low 100s while temperatures closer to the coast will remain milder. Read full story
Joe Rodota Trail Portion Will Be Temporarily Closed to Reestablish Safe and Clean Environment
Beginning Wednesday, May 30, 2018, the County ofSonoma in collaboration with the City of Santa Rosa will temporarily close thesection of the Joe Rodota Trail (JRT) from Roseland Avenue to Dutton Avenue toremove unlawful encampments and reestablish a safe and clean environment forall trail visitors. The effort is anticipated to last two days, after which theCounty will reopen the closed section of the JRT for recreational trail use. Read full story
New Gas Tax will Fund Pavement, Ditching, Culverts and More
On April 17th, 2018, the Sonoma CountyBoard of Supervisors approved road improvement projects which will make iteasier and safer to travel in Sonoma County. Christopher GodleyTemporarily Named Interim Emergency Manager for Sonoma County
On March 12, 2018, Christopher Godley, a nationally respected emergency services leader, has been temporarily named the interim Emergency Manager of Sonoma County. Mr. Godley will take the helm of the Emergency Services Division for several months while the County conducts a national recruitment to find a qualified individual to serve as the permanent Emergency Manager.
